Call for Entries

The Anacostia Youth Media Festival is thrilled to announce a call for entries for our upcoming photo exhibition at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum! We invite young creatives from across the DC Metropolitan area to submit photographs that capture the diverse experiences of youth in Washington, DC, and surrounding areas, focusing on themes of community, resilience, and the challenges faced by today’s youth.

Deadline: January 25, 2025

Submission Guidelines

Who Can Enter: Open to youth ages 5-19 residing in the DC Metropolitan area.

Theme: "Lived Experiences of Youth." We encourage submissions that reflect your unique perspective on the challenges and triumphs of young people today, including themes of mental health, community engagement, and social justice.

Format: High-resolution digital photos (JPEG or PNG).

Number of Entries: Each participant may submit up to give photos.

Caption: Each submission should include a brief description (100 words max) explaining the story behind the photo and its relevance to the theme.

Exhibition Details:

  • Location: Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum, Exterior Exhibition Space.

  • Exhibition Opening: February 2025

This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your work, connect with fellow creatives, and contribute to a meaningful conversation about the experiences of youth in our communities. Selected entries will be displayed as part of our exhibition, allowing your vision to resonate with visitors from across the DC area.
